You really should not read this book or this review if you haven't read the first book, Forgetting August, this book without a doubt can't be read without reading that book first. I loved Forgetting August, I mean I felt like it was really fresh and original and super interesting, the characters were compelling, and then it ended on like a big "whoa" moment. So naturally the second I finished reading Forgetting August, I preordered for this book, dying to know what was going to happen next.

So a little recap is that August and Everly used to be together, August basically has amnesia after an attack. Everly is very affected by this both because he used to be her boyfriend and also because August was without a doubt emotionally abusive, like used to lock her in a room (to keep her safe). In the first book they actually get back together until the someone from August's past shows back up and Everly leaves August and goes back to her old fiance, Ryan. And then it's revealed at the end that August knows Everly is the one who hit him causing his coma and amnesia.

It was such a set up for like a fantastic next book, I mean what is August going to do, is he going back to him callus ways and maybe blackmail her, or call the police, I mean what is going to happen. Is Everly going to fess up to Ryan what really happened between her and August and why the whole thing is so hard for her. I was dying to know. And then I really dug into this book. And it was so slow. There was so much filler in the book I just wanted the good stuff.

Ryan and Everly are basically just roommate for reason passing understanding are getting married, and I felt bad for her a little about that, I mean it's clear she loved August, but I get she had to protect herself. But August, man August, you kill me. He was so easily just walked back into his old life. He let the other guy from his past just take over everything, completely blackmail him, mess his relationships, I mean this guy is horrible, and August just kind of lets it all happen. Also August starts a relationship with someone else that I really didn't like, I mean it was clear that he didn't want her, he only had eyes for Everly so it almost felt cruel the way he let this girl really want him, I mean he even met her family.

My biggest problem with this book is that it was just all so slow and felt like filler. I mean probably the last third of the book was good, because the plot was moving along again, but the first third just felt like it would go on and on forever. I think I might have built this book up to much in my head, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I will say I do really like the writers style, and just from the first book alone I will be reading more of her work in the future. And even though I didn't LOVE this book, the first book is so good that I would still recommend reading the series all together.

The continuation to Forgetting August. Remembering Everly Book 2 in the Lost and Found Series-

When August remembers everything Everly doesn't know what she'll do, but he pushes her away, Again! The only thing she can do Is move on with her life. The fiancé she found after August was in a coma took her back. He truly loves her. Now she plans to go through with the wedding she thinks she wants.
Except one night at her bachelorette party she calls him. Why? She doesn't know.
Will he pick up? When he does she begins to ask him why he doesn't love her. He tells her stay far away from me. All to protect her.

After August gets an unexpected visit from Ryan, who's Everly's fiancé he isn't sure what to do with the new information he has given him.

What does August truly want? He knows what's in his heart. That will never change.
But he can't let his business partner hurt the one women who his heart belongs to.

August hopes he gets another chance with Everly. They finally have a second chance. He'll protect her, but he won't let her go. They need to trust each other. They can't let anyone get in there way. Will it work out this time around? At least this time she gets a better understanding what really happened that awful night.

It's a great book. Fast moving. And read Book 1-Forgetting August. You don't want to miss that book.
After spending two years in a coma, August is back, but ... at the same time he isn't. Without access to his memories, he's had to attempt to rebuild his life using records and other people's memories, and from there, simply making it up as he goes, but without vital information those memories could have provided things eventually come crashing down and the woman he loves walks out of his life.

In keeping with all of the lies, misdirections, half truths and deceptions of the first book of the Lost & Found duet, Forgetting August, the big reveal that led directly to the cliffhanger? It turns out that was more of the same.

Remembering Everly, by J.L. Berg, without giving too much away, takes the reader on more than a few twists, turns and detours, many of which I wasn't expecting as it brings these two star-crossed lovers towards their dramatic conclusion. I expected that the mystery man that Sarah, Everly's BFF was dating would play a role, but was surprised by how. I was expecting that the respective counselors, Brick and Tabitha would play crucial roles, but again was taken aback by how.

In short, almost everything I was expecting to be picked up on from the first book to be developed in the second, was, but still was surprised at every turn by the way things came about.

I loved the juxtaposition of how, as Everly finally starts putting her life together on her terms, August, who'd been struggling to be strong and noble has everything crumbling down around him. The way he deals with the moral quandaries that surround him at every turn and makes what are, at best, questionable judgments, even while seeking the lesser evil.

If the previous book introduced the characters and set the stage, this one chronicles their descent towards rock bottom only to follow it with how, and with whose help, they rise up again.

Captivating storytelling.
